I spent all afternoon in the pool, listening to Neon Trees and Hellogoodbye, and thinking about everything that has happened in the last few weeks. My skin stings with sunburn and I’m excited to sleep in tomorrow.
I’m relieved that it’s finally summer, but also incredibly overwhelmed. Graduation is in six days. I’m still not sure how my college situation is going to work out. I miss my friends already and yet I’m sort of ready to be a college kid.
My friends… Goodness I love them, but it’s sometimes it’s so hard to have friends who differ so much from you in some ways. I worry about every single one of them, though. Some of my favorite people. I guess I just wish they saw things more like I did. Maybe that means I’m “mature” or old-fashioned or whatever—I miss being understood in that way. I wonder if that old friendship could be salvaged this summer.
Maybe. But for the next two months, I’m not going to think about school or college or leaving. I just need some time to get my thoughts untangled.
